My team and I undertook the task of highlighting everything that gives the castle hotel its unique character during the interior design concept creation and furniture arrangement.I freely interpreted the botanical theme and mixed the leaf shapes and organic lines typical of Art Nouveau. The individually designed furniture, hall walls, curved bed frames and canopies evoke the atmosphere of a bygone era in a modern and functional approach. The use of materials and natural fabrics, woolen carpets and linen curtains create a feeling of luxury, in a place where you have more time than usual to observe the details. The meeting of brass and raw clay objects with marble and glass surfaces ensures a balance of cold and warm elements, while nostalgic, vintage accessories refer to the castle's rich history. In terms of accessories, we did not strive for simplicity. The small decorative objects, pictures and paperweights weave the space like a silk thread. The goal was to ensure complete relaxation and rejuvenation in the suites, while the eye can rest on a delicately curved, patina object.
The Felicita restaurant works with authentic Italian flavours and quality ingredients. The goal was to create a sufficiently eclectic mid-century style interior and a very homely atmosphere. Throughout the conceptual phase of the project, I felt as if I was just putting things in their designated place because the direction was clear from the beginning. There was no room for any gimmicky elements or "made-up" details. Everything was subordinated to the feeling that the space gave me. The light pouring in from the huge windows invited the hanging plants and the green marble tables gave way to wonderful complementary colours, and it was joyous to hang unique graphics on the wonderful wooden wall panels. The quality furniture and architectural elements designed by URBA provided the perfect basis for the vintage, stilnovo-style objects and the copper accessories. With delicately designed lamps and soft leather textures, the overall effect was achieved: as if the restaurant had always been there. My task was to design extensive decorations, coasters, serving and textile accessories, wall decorations, and carpets, as well as plan the vegetation, which Finecut Studio helped me with. The unique wall pictures were designed by the lovely Eszter Csontos graphic designer.
The Acai Spot superfood bar with fresh ingredients, berries and healthy brunch options was only imaginable to me in a wild, novel, jungle-like environment. We have created an imagined world based on exotic raw materials, which extends like an oasis on the ground floor of the Hegyvidék Shopping Center all the way to the main entrance. The purple brand colour echoes in the vegetation, the unique ceramic objects and many accessories, together with the willow green with the lush vegetation and colourful, uniquely designed wallpaper. In the interior design space designed by URBA, I chose gentle pastels and vibrant mauve, patterned fabrics and bamboo accessories to complement the natural wood and earthy colours. The jungle atmosphere and the visual separation from the shopping centre are provided by sprawling palms, hanging plant pots and a florarium planted with wild orchids. In the first hour of creating the concept, ceramic parrots were flying in front of my mind's eye, which now found a home on the deli counter. The wooden cube menu board also sweetly shows the current offer.
Thanks to the serious light and sound engineering work, Darose operates as a restaurant during the day, and as a bar at night in one of Vienna's business districts. Accordingly, the decor had to be devised in such a way as to provide a pleasant atmosphere during the day, but not to get in the way of the party crowd at night. The almost brutalist lines of the building dictated the modern-contemporary interior that Socially Budapest dreamed up. To complement this, I chose latticed, textured materials in decoration that are slightly industrial, but create a gentle and playful effect. The curved shapes of the lamps, and the interplay of glass and metal worked beautifully with the lights and plants, softening the space and filling it with life. Due to the light conditions, I worked with a number of coloured, dried plants and air plants, but the window spaces were decorated with banana trees, palm trees and bonsai to make the most of the constantly changing light conditions. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with a unique wallpaper with the portraits of the owners, David Alaba and his wife Rose May Alaba, in colours of which I selected the shades of the smaller furnishings. Due to the function of the space, many elements of typical restaurant decor, like decorative pillows, floor vases, and room dividers, were left out, but the wall decor, shelf decor and local lighting fixtures made up for them perfectly. For the washrooms, I bought special accessories and toiletries, as well as hygiene products, which I felt were vital and expected from the local crowd.
While working on this exceptional interior decorating project at Felix, I had the opportunity to contribute to the creation of an atmosphere that fits the history of the building and at the same time enlightens the mood. The main aspects were warmth, comfort and convenience, which I achieved by choosing high-quality materials and rich textures that serve decorating purposes but are also in harmony with Felix's collection of contemporary artworks. I tried to enhence the feeling of agelessness and choose accessories that invite the building's colourful frescoes into the space with their airiness and pastel colours. I choose accessories, furniture and also live plants while paying attention to making the common areas more practical and better adjusted to the customers' needs.
